Corporate FAQs
I loved it! Can I bring my family along next time?
We are open to the public 7 days a week – and we also offer a number of children’s party packages. Please call us to find out more.
Is the ropes course suitable for people with disabilities?
Yes! We aim to be as inclusive as possible and simply ask for details on any disabilities before a course to give us the chance to design the programme accordingly. People with a variety of disabilities have joined in with and enjoyed ropes course activities in the past – and we will always incorporate some lawn based challenges if climbing is not a possibility.
Does it matter if I’m pregnant?
We have welcomed women at all stages of pregnancy to the ropes course over the years. We just ask that you let us know via the registration form which will be e-mailed to you prior to your event. All the information that you give on that form is kept confidential, so please do not worry if you have not yet told your boss or work colleagues about your pregnancy.
I’m scared of heights. Will I still be able to take part?
One of the strengths of the ropes course is that fact that everyone has a role to play whether they are eager to head for the treetops or prefer to keep their feet much closer to the ground. You can also rest assured that we will never force you to do anything you feel uncomfortable doing (we call this ‘Challenge by Choice’). The great news is that, time and again, people are amazed by how much they actually manage to achieve when they are with us, whatever their initial misgivings. Our ropes course is constructed by the experts in building adventure courses and our staff are second to none. You are in safe hands.
Does it matter if I’m unfit?
Not at all. You do not need to be fit to enjoy the ropes course and we will not force you to do anything you feel uncomfortable doing (we call this ‘Challenge by Choice’). Just be aware that you might ache a little the following day!
What happens if the weather’s bad?
We have only ever had to cancel a group once in 11 years due to extreme weather, so it is extremely unlikely that we will not able to run your event. If this does happen, we will obviously let you know in good time.
Will I be safe?
One of the most frequent comments on our feedback forms is how safe people felt when they were with us. All of our equipment is regularly checked and maintained to the highest nationally recognised safety standards. Our technicians are all fully qualified and have a wealth of experience with corporate groups. They will ensure that you remain safe throughout and will be more than happy to reassure you if there is anything you are uncertain about when you are on the course.
Will I be able to stop to go to the loo?
Simply let your technician know that you need to take a break and they will point you in the direction of our toilet ~ it may not win any awards for décor but we do try our best to keep it clean and tidy!
Can I bring my camera?
There is no need. We will take pictures on the day and send them to your company afterwards so that you can all re-live your time in the trees!
What should I wear?
It is best to wear comfortable loose trousers and sturdy flat shoes such as trainers or walking boots. Layers are a good idea on cooler days, as are gloves. You will need to take off all jewellery, including watches; we have a safe place where these can be kept while you are on the ropes course. All specialist equipment will be supplied, including waterproof jackets and helmets.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
All you need to bring is yourself! All specialist equipment is provided and we take photos on the day so there is no need to bring a camera.
Where do I go on arrival?
Your welcome letter will tell you which castle entrance is closest to the room where your briefing will be held. A member of Ripley Castle staff will direct you from there to ensure you don’t get lost!
Will I be able to park?
There is limited parking around Ripley Castle itself and there is also a large free public car park in Ripley village. Prior to your event, you will receive a welcome letter with a map and details on suggested parking.
Is the ropes course easy to find?
We're tucked away in the grounds of Ripley Castle in the centre of the village of Ripley near Harrogate. For those with a Sat Nav, the postcode is HG3 3AY
