The first of our occasional series explaining to the world what is so great about the powerhouse county, Yorkshire.

We are going to start with one of Yorkshire’s most successful exports – Yorkshire Tea. And it is for good reason, because any visitor to Log Heights will soon realise that the organisation runs on this refreshing brew!

Yorkshire Tea

Let’s have a proper brew

Taylors of Harrogate are responsible for bringing Yorkshire Tea to the world in the 70’s. It’s a special blend of tea that is bright, brisk and strong. (A bit like the Log Heights team!) Teas from Assam, Kenya and Rwanda are all in the mix. Taylors have been around a lot longer than  the 70’s however. Founded in 1886 by Charles Edward Taylor and his brother Llewellyn, these sons of a York pea dealer and master grocer clearly had retail genius in their genes. After training at the famous Ashbys Tea of London, they gained a reputation for expertly blending the teas to suit the local waters. They also hit on the idea of kiosk tea and coffee tasting rooms. These proved a great success, and Taylors went from strength to strength.

Today, millions of cups of Yorkshire Tea are enjoyed each year and the range includes Decaf and Gold , a luxury blend.

Yorkshire Tea – a great product from a great county.

February 2015

February is a month where romance is in the air and people invest more time and attention to affairs of the heart.

Trip Advisor, not wanting to miss a trick have therefore created a new way to rank accommodation listings on their omnipotent review site. You can now filter properties that are “Romantic” and then list them by rating – providing us with the opportunity to share with you…drum roll please…the top 5 Romantic Hotels in Harrogate!

Top 5 most romantic hotels Harrogate

If you are visiting Harrogate or the surrounding area with your loved one, we highly recommend visiting us here at Log Heights. It’s anecdotally accepted that participating in a shared activity helps build a strong relationship. But there is an increasing body of research that sharing an “exciting” activity has a significant bonding effect. Papers like McKinney’s “Effects of Adrenaline on Arousal and Attraction” show “a significant positive correlation between adrenaline and attraction, which means as level of adrenaline increased, so did level of attraction.”

So come swing through the trees and take your relationship to the next level! Call us on 01423 229780 or email info@logheights.co.uk.

Log Heights Christmas

Welcome to Advent-ure!

Well, using the words of a well known song, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We’ve got to say we’re pretty excited about the festive season; the grounds of Ripley Castle become even more beautiful, especially in the morning’s when the frost covers our course. We also get to open our advent calendars, although, at Log Heights, we call them adventure calendars! The first tasty treat behind our door this morning was a gift voucher. This is to remind you that gift vouchers are available for Christmas presents. Order them this month for those friends and family members who love a bit of excitement, those thrill-seekers and adventure lovers! Better than a boring jumper, our gift vouchers give people the opportunity to become a real jumper (!) and take our Leap Of Faith! Start someone’s adventure today!

Festive Fun

Looking forward to your corporate Christmas party this month? How about planning a treat for the team for the morning or afternoon before the celebration and get them out of the office? Bring them to Log Heights for lots of festive fun in the trees and on our ropes course. Work together and encourage communication and get to know the people you work with outside of the same for walls. There is so much to learn about a person other than spreadsheets and filing systems! One top tip we have is to make sure each member of the team knows what they are doing, without this the team will pull in different directions. Enjoy some festive fun this month!

Thanks folks, we wish you a very, Merry Christmas!

Trick or Tree?

As it’s the official scariest day of the year we thought that we’d change the traditional question of trick or treat. Instead, as we think the best treat is a visit to Log Heights, we question if you’ll be performing tricks or booking a trip to our trees? Whilst Halloween is scary, if you’re scared of heights any day can be terrifying if you’re faced with your fear. One of the strengths of the ropes course is that fact that everyone has a role to play whether they are eager to head for the treetops or prefer to keep their feet much closer to the ground. You can also rest assured that we will never force you to do anything you feel uncomfortable doing (we call this ‘Challenge by Choice’). The great news is that, time and again, people are amazed by how much they actually manage to achieve when they are with us, whatever their initial misgivings. So don’t be scared, see it as a challenge, one that you can overcome & feel the sense of achievement about.

Team Time

We were very excited about the recent Avengers 2 trailer. They really are the ultimate team! What about your own team? Is your office united? Are you employees or colleagues working together well, communicating effectively or could they do with some time away from the same four walls? Teambuilding is the perfect idea to refocus your department or business. One top tip we have is to leave titles back at the office, everyone should be equal on a company away day. Put some time into your team!

Thanks folks, we hope to welcome you this winter!

Five Star Experiences

Here are a couple of our recent five star reviews…

“We had a great time. Even being scared of heights, I thought Log Heights was fantastic. The fact the technician stays with you throughout is definitely a plus point over other ropes courses that ‘leave you to it’. Would definitely recommend.”

“This experience can really surprise you when you suddenly find that certain people seem to have no fear. My wife did the leap of faith. Amazing. There were bravery medals all around. The grounds were fantastic so you get to have this adventurous time in a beautiful setting. If you are thinking about doing this I would recommend you give it a try.”

We are pleased to announce that our technician Darren Crockford won employee of the year at the Harrogate Advertiser Ackrill Media Business awards a couple of weeks ago. Up against stiff competition from the Harrogate District we are thrilled that Darren was voted to win the local award. His passion for the job, technical abilities and great humour help to make him a worthy recipient of the award. Click here for a photo of Darren & his award! Congratulations Darren!
