The Leadership Challenge

Do you want to be a leader who inspires, empowers and releases potential in your team?
If so, the Log Heights Leadership Challenge has been designed to show you how. This two day programme is based on the Kouzes and Posner Leadership Model and will equip you with the tools to:
- Appreciate the difference between leadership and management
- Discover the key challenges successful leadership brings
- Understand how you lead at the moment and the impact this has on others
- Develop your strengths and address your weaknesses
- Give and receive effective feedback
- Put your new-found knowledge into practice by leading a team in the completion of a project
- Design your own personal leadership development plan
Above all, you will have a fun, memorable and inspiring experience as we show you how to become a self confident and effective leader through a variety of challenging indoor and outdoor projects, facilitated reviews and feedback sessions – all tailored to your individual needs and talents!
The programme is held at Ripley Castle, Ripley near Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
Throughout the programme, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this historic building. You will also get the opportunity to try some of the challenges on the largest tree-based ropes course in the country which is based in the arboretum.

If you are based in the Yorkshire or Humberside region and employ between 5 and 250 people, you might be able to get this course fully funded! Via Train to Gain, the Learning and Skills Council is offering £500 towards leadership training for Managing Directors and owners. It’s quick and easy to obtain but could really make a difference to you and your business. What’s to lose?

Outdoor Facilitation
Dates TBC 
A highly interactive, informal, indoor and outdoor three-day learning experience for facilitators who want to stand out from the crowd. The programme is personalised according to the needs of the participants as it includes a pre-programme chat about personal learning objectives with the lead trainer. It also includes a comprehensive workbook and post-programme e-mail support.
The programme will enable you to:
- Understand the role of the outdoors in learning, its background, benefits and limitations
- Design effective experience-based learning experiences that surpass learning outcomes
- Run learning events effectively and manage group processes
- Review experiences actively and creatively and ensure that learning is transferred
- Follow up learning programmes effectively to maximise business impact
A highly experiential event, the programme will involve participating in a variety of exercises (high and low), games, debates, discussions, reviews and interactive theory sessions. It also involves opportunities to facilitate outdoors!

Coaching in the workplace

A two-day coaching programme for team leaders and managers in association with coach Julie Kay which enables course participants to develop their practical coaching skills through participating in active projects, applying theory, taking part in facilitated reviews and giving and receiving feedback.
The programme will enable you to:
- Understand what coaching is and how it can lead to more effective interactions in the workplace.
- Recognise the value of coaching in enhancing performance.
- Understand the coaching process, styles and theories.
- Develop key coaching skills - active listening, strategic questioning, problem solving, goal setting and giving and receiving feedback.
- Practice coaching by taking part in practical projects and reviews.
This programme is highly interactive, and fun and uses an accelerated learning approach. It provides ample opportunity for participants to explore coaching in the workplace, practice coaching skills and relate what they are learning to their own organisational contexts.

Reviewing skills and tools for trainers

This two-day workshop, with Dr Roger Greenaway, is especially for trainers who want to develop reviewing techniques that are as engaging, active and creative as their training activities.
Discover how to:
- Fire up the process of experiential learning
- Keep reviews alive and moving
- Deal with resistances to learning
- Use reviewing to accelerate group development
- Achieve specific objectives
- Develop your skills
- Raise the quality of communication within a group
You will be able to try out a stimulating range of reviewing methods using natural objects, visual aids, stories, replays and other techniques drawn from the creative arts, drama, counselling and group work. How to Transfer Learning

A two-day programme led by Dr Roger Greenaway. This workshop is well supported by recent theories about the transfer of learning, but the priority is a practical one - to develop and extend your reviewing toolkit. It is about how to add to the impact of experience-based learning - so that both the experiences and the learning will live on after the event. You will discover what you can do throughout training events to ensure that they have a longer-term impact.
